the only moonstone mine in the world is situated meetiyagoda in galle district of srilanka .this mine is spread over an area of around one acre and special feature seen here is that there are no moonstones found even in the close vicinity of the said mine.

සදකැන් පාශාණ යනු මැණික් විශේශයකි.
සදේ ආකර්ශණය මත නිර්මාණය වේ යයි මතයක් පවතී.මෙම මැණික් නිදිය පිහිටා තිබෙන්නේ ගාල්ල දිස්තික්කයේ මීටියාගොඩ පුරවරයේවේම පමණි.මීට අමතරව ශ්රි ලංකාවේ හෝ ලෝකයේ මෙවන් නිදියක් පිහිටා නොමැත. මී ටියාගොඩදීද ඔබට මෙම නිදිය දැකගත හැක්කේ අක්කරයක පමණ බිමකදී පමනි.එම භූමියෙන් පිටත ද මෙම මැණික් වර්ගය දැකිය නොහැක. මෙහි විශේසත්වය එයයි.
